Essence 33 delivered in USA

The sleek lines of the Essence 33, developed by Yagt B.V. from a classic Hoek Design have allowed Ceilidh Composite Technologies to prove their passion for product development. The detailing of the spars has been completed together with Michel Hof of Essence Yachts, looking at every fitting to improve design and functionality. Internal retrieval lines to take up the slack, simple solutions for lazy-jacks and clean stainless steel fittings have been designed specially for this project. Recently Michel completed delivery of boat number 6 in Greenport, USA. This is the second set of spars that Ceilidh has supplied, and with 2 more sets on order the development and quest for the optimal product remains unabated.

Splash dinghy vang with control

Splash dinghy vang with control

Ceilidh Composite Technologies have again applied the company slogan ‘products that perform’ to a dinghy class. A new vang system for the Splash class where many sailors have difficulties releasing the vang at the windward mark, resulting in frequent capsizes in stronger winds. The vang is based on two carbon plates rotating on each other, with a Spinlock PX cam cleat to improve performance and ensure a quick and easy release of the vang when needed.

HIT Masts Pro success

Congratulations to Pieter Jan Postma (NED) on his Bronze medal at a challenging Finn Gold Cup recently. Sailing with our latest design of the Finn mast PRO his superior boat speed helped in the shifty conditions at the event. Also our congratulations to Rafa Trujillo (ESP) who won every race at the Finn Masters World Championships in Torbole sailing with our PRO design. Vladimir Krutskikh (RUS) was a worthy second with a HIT Mast Classic scoring 2 points more than Trujillo over the series.

The new design introduces major changes to the bend curve and dynamic working of the mast. While still in the test phase, the results show that the HIT mast PRO designed and manufactured by Ceilidh Composite Technologies is performing as planned, giving more control upwind with added power downwind.

The new mast for ‘Raisena’ was built in the first few months of 2015. Towering 25 metres above the waterline, this rig was specially designed and engineered by New-Zealander Chris Mitchell for Ceilidh Composite Technologies. Raisena is sailed on the Norfolk Broads in the UK where light winds, narrow channels and high reed along the river banks makes for challenging designs. This rig is immense, but has a section dimension of 192*103mm, the same size as one would normally find in a mast of 18 metres.
